the challenge
Brave Nature School set out to create a truly unique educational space—one that not only fosters children’s connection to nature but also centers justice, equity, and radical care. Their approach is unlike any other forest school in Connecticut, combining anti-racist, anti-bias, and consent-based learning with a deep respect for the natural world as a rights-holder.
However, their existing website didn’t fully capture the spirit and complexity of their mission. It lacked clarity and focus, making it difficult for families to quickly understand the school’s values, offerings, and inclusive community. Representation of multiculturalism and the rich textures of nature were missing, and the enrollment process wasn’t as straightforward or welcoming as it could be.
What Brave Nature School needed was a forest school website design that could clearly and beautifully communicate their bold vision while making it easy for families to find their place within this nurturing, justice-centered community. The challenge was to create a digital experience that felt safe, inspiring, and aligned with their core values—one that honored both the children and the diverse families they serve.

For Brave Nature School, the goal was to design a forest school website design that truly embodies their commitment to community, nature, and social justice. Starting with a deep dive into their values and unique educational philosophy, I focused on crafting a digital space that feels warm, welcoming, and inclusive—reflecting the school’s dedication to anti-racism, consent-based learning, and respect for the natural world.
The design uses earthy, natural colors and organic textures to bring the outdoors in, while thoughtfully integrating multicultural patterns and artwork that celebrate diversity and connection. Navigation was simplified to help families easily find key information about the program, sliding scale tuition, and enrollment steps without feeling overwhelmed.
Clear, concise messaging highlights the school’s radical care approach and their belief in children as rights-holders, while the overall aesthetic fosters a sense of safety and belonging. Every element of this forest school website design was created to inspire trust, joy, and confidence in families seeking a nurturing, community-led educational experience for their children.
I thoroughly enjoyed working with Jordin on BNS' new website.
