Showit Template Customization, Without the DIY Headache

Here's the thing: not all Showit templates are created equally. Some look beautiful on the front end but are an absolute wreck behind the scenes. I've seen templates that are incredibly well-built and others that make even simple changes way more complicated than they need to be.

There are a few places I already know and trust, including TONIC, Norfolk, and the Showit Template Shop. Templates from these shops don't need additional approval.

But there are Showit templates available all over the internet, including Etsy, and while some might be perfectly fine, others can be a disaster. That's why I need to vet and approve any template outside of those trusted shops before you purchase it.

If you haven't found a template yet, I'm happy to help you narrow down your options and find one that works for your business, content, and overall style.

The template purchase itself is separate from my customization fee.

Quite a bit! Your website doesn't have to look exactly like the template you purchased.

I'll customize the colors, fonts, photography, text, and existing layouts to reflect your business. Your package also includes up to eight custom canvas sections, which gives us room to create new sections or make more substantial layout changes where they're needed.

That said, template customization isn't the same as designing a website completely from scratch, and that's actually one of its biggest advantages! By starting with an existing, professionally designed foundation, I can skip a significant portion of the initial design and development work. That's what allows me to move through your project so much faster and get your website launched in days rather than weeks.

In Showit, a canvas is essentially a section of a webpage. Think of a services overview, testimonial section, photo gallery, or call-to-action area.

Your package includes up to eight custom canvas sections, giving us flexibility to add sections that aren't included in the original template or create layouts that better suit your content.

This is especially helpful when you love the overall look of a template but need a few things it doesn't already offer. We'll discuss your needs during onboarding so I can determine where those custom sections will be most useful.

Not necessarily! If you already have a brand identity you love, I'll incorporate your existing colors, fonts, logo, and other brand elements into your template.

If you don't have a complete brand identity, I can establish a simple, cohesive visual direction using your photography, color preferences, and typography. You don't need to have every detail figured out before reaching out.

However, this isn't a full branding package. If you're looking for a new logo, a more comprehensive brand strategy, or a complete visual identity, take a look at my branding services. We can absolutely discuss incorporating branding into your project before we get started.

Most template customization projects take approximately 3–8 business days once your project officially begins and all your materials are ready.

I'll start by customizing your homepage, which typically takes one business day. You'll review it and provide feedback before I move on to the remaining pages. Once everything is approved, I'll complete the final SEO and technical setup, prepare your deliverables, and get your website ready to launch.

The timeline depends on your project scope, how quickly you provide feedback, and whether additional pages or features are involved. You'll have clear deadlines and an organized project hub to help keep everything moving.

Absolutely! The starting package includes up to five customized pages, but we can add more if your business needs them.

Additional service pages, specialty pages, portfolio pages, and other content can be included in your proposal. Pricing depends on whether we're adapting an existing template layout or creating something more customized.

If your website needs become more extensive, I'll also be upfront about whether custom website design would make more sense for your project.

Foundational SEO is included in every template customization project. This covers page titles, meta descriptions, image alt text, heading structure, and other basic on-page setup to give your website a solid starting point.

You'll provide your website copy, and I'll help you make adjustments as needed to fit the template's layout and communicate your message clearly.

If you'd rather have your website copy professionally written, I also offer full-service copywriting through my copywriting partner, starting at $1,800 for four pages. This can be coordinated before your website project begins.

More advanced SEO services, including in-depth keyword research, long-form content strategy, and ongoing optimization, aren't included in template customization.

Of course! You'll have opportunities to review your website and request revisions throughout the process.

I start with your homepage so we can establish the overall styling and direction before customizing the remaining pages. Once you've approved the homepage, I'll move forward with the rest of your website.

I don't limit you to a specific number of revision rounds, but I do set feedback deadlines to keep your project on schedule. Major changes to previously approved designs or requests outside the original scope may affect the timeline or require an additional fee.

Your $2,500 starting investment covers the customization services outlined in your package for up to five pages.

You'll also need to purchase your Showit template separately and maintain a Showit subscription. If you don't already own a domain, you'll need one of those, too.

Other potential expenses include additional pages, premium font licenses, stock photography, blog migration, advanced integrations, or professional copywriting if you choose to add it.

I'll outline any project-specific costs before we get started so there aren't surprises along the way.

Every project includes a personalized walkthrough video showing you how to update your specific website, along with access to my full video tutorial library. I'll cover the things you're most likely to change, whether that's swapping photos, editing text, or updating your services.

You'll also have two weeks of post-launch support for questions or issues that come up after your website goes live. My goal is for you to feel confident managing your website long after our project is finished.
